Animal Whore

“To my mind the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body. I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to the protection by man from the cruelty of man.”—Mahatma Gandhi.

After years of trumpeting its slogan, “We don’t test on animals. How could anyone?” Urban Decay, the darling of the hip and trendy cruelty-free set, has let down caring consumers everywhere by choosing profits over principle. The company has chosen to sell its cosmetics in China—a country that requires cosmetics companies to pay for many of their products to be tested on animals in Chinese laboratories before they can be marketed there.

PETA-funded scientists have been working with the Chinese government to have non-animal tests accepted as alternatives to animal tests—one such test is already poised to be accepted by the Chinese government. Urban Decay could delay its entry into China until the Chinese government accepts all non-animal methods for testing cosmetics. Instead, the company is putting profits over principle—and countless animals are likely to suffer in painful and deadly tests as a result.

Please let Urban Decay know that you won’t buy its products until the company is 100 percent cruelty-free once again.
